Admiral Mengamuk is a traditional drink from Riau made from kuweni mango, coconut milk, and palm sugar. This drink is not only refreshing, but also rich in cultural and historical values of the Riau Malay community. Its unique name comes from a local legend about an admiral who went berserk after his wife was kidnapped by the owner of a kuweni plantation, prompting him to cut down the trees, leaving the fruits scattered. Locals then processed the fruits into a drink called LaNamunLaksamana Mengamuk as part of Riau’s cultural identity. This article discusses various strategies for socialization, such as through social media, culinary festivals, and school-based education, to preserve and promote this traditional drink.
